Captain of ships in the Arctic, Hayat sails far from men and her past. When her younger sister Leïla gives birth to a baby girl, their lives are turned upside down. Guided by the North Star, they try to overcome the heavy family destiny that binds them.

Biography Ainara Vera

Ainara Vera was born in 1985 in Spain. She obtained a master’s degree in documentary film in Barcelona. Her first short documentary film, “Sertres” was selected at the Locarno Film Festival in 2014. She then directed a medium-length film entitled “See you tomorrow, God Willing!” which premiered at IDFA and was selected in several festivals including Doc NYC, DocsBarcelona. The film received the Best Film Award at the International Women’s Film Festival in Créteil. Ainara was the first assistant director and editor of Victor Kossakovsky on “Varicella”, “Aquarela” (Venice Film Festival 2018) and “Gunda” (Berlinale 2020). Polaris is her first feature film and was part of the ACID Cannes 2022 selection.
